Phosphorus is a key nutrient that ensures cats and dogs vital functions. However, recent publications have been associating the degradation of renal function in cats with the high phosphorus content of commercial foods.
Symrise Pet Food has measured the phosphorous level of more than 250 dry cat foods from all over the world.
During CBNA poster session, Fernando will present the results of this study and put them in perspective with the phopsphorous content recommendations from NRC and FEDIAF, as well as the safety studies currently available.

Climate change, water consumption, deforestation… There is an emergency for all governments worldwide to address environmental challenges. The Agro-Agri business sector, and especially the pet food industry, feels always more pressure from its stakeholders to limit its environmental footprint
During CBNA, Aurélie will introduce the current governmental engagements and advancements for climate change and product environmental footprint labelling. She will present the repartition of the impacts over the pet food value chain and explain how product Life Cycle Assessment and eco-design can drastically lower the ecological impacts of pet food.
